Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship
Since 2008, the Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship has played an important role in recognizing and celebrating North Country educators.
More than 50 educators from every level — kindergarten through 12th grade — from across the North Country have been awarded fellowships. The program was established by Louise Tillotson and strives to retain good teachers in the North Country and recognize excellence in public school teaching.
In 2024, the Fellowship was paused for redesign to deepen its impact on local schools and communities. Beginning in 2025, the Fellowship will feature a facilitated learning cohort, stipends, and funding and support for a passion project undertaken by the fellows.
The 2025 Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship cohort will play a key role in shaping the program, ensuring it remains relevant and meaningful to educators’ needs—a fellowship for local educators, designed by local educators.
Are you eager to deepen your impact in your school or community? Do you have big ideas for improving student or educator experiences but aren’t sure how to get started? Are you looking for a collaborative group of thinkers and doers to support you on your journey? If so, the Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship might be a great fit for you!
A full program description and application are available here.
“Louise’s interest in the fellowship was to give the teachers in the North Country the opportunity to go and gain skills that they could bring back and pass to their peers. She wanted to encourage good teachers to get better and then pass it around. She had a great confidence in the fact that a strong education system would boost the community as a whole.”
